The new science curriculum at St. John’s is an exciting balance of skills and knowledge. All pupils learn how to ‘work scientifically’ whilst they gain an understanding of the world through the stimulating units of study in the subjects of biology, chemistry and physics.
Pupils from the Foundation Stage through to Year 6 are taught in a variety of ways how to apply the skills of classification, observation over time, fair testing, pattern seeking and researching. Science at St. John’s is subject that is intertwined with others such as ICT, Maths, Art, PE and Literacy. The pupils delight in talking about, writing about, photographing and even drawing their exciting discoveries. This cross-curricular ethos makes Science at St. John’s both an inspiring and exhilarating subject that children and teachers thoroughly enjoy.
