FRIENDS OF ST. JOHN’S WALHAM GREEN
C of E PRIMARY SCHOOL
The Friends Association has been set up to create a positive link between parents/carers, children, school staff and friends of St. John’s Walham Green C of E Primary School.
Our main goals are:
1. to raise funds to support learning, activities and resources
2. to provide a channel for offers of voluntary help to the school – including a resource pool for helping on school trips, helping to run clubs, helping with improvements to the school site and working with children to support the teaching staff
3. to provide a channel for parents/caregivers to bring forward positive suggestions on ways to strengthen the school and its environment
4. to organise functions for parents/carers, teachers and friends of the association to meet together socially, supporting the home school agreement.
Past Events:
Our main event is the Summer Fair held at the beginning of July – this is always a fun day with lots of games, food, a bouncy castle and a ‘make-over’ area and we have raised nearly £2000 each year for School Projects. We work closely with local businesses that support us through donations of raffle prizes or food to sell.
We also help the teachers to run the Christmas Craft Fair, support School Special Events, represent the parents point of view at School Open Days so that potential new parents at the school can ask any questions, run the School Book Fairs, make wonderful costumes for School Plays and are basically an extra resource for staff to call on when they need a helping hand!
