Ways of Donating to St. John's Walham CE Primary School
Why Are We Asking for Support?
Over the last few years, the cost of running the school has consistently risen, but government funding has not kept pace.
While our income has increased by approximately 27%, our spending has increased by over 33% during the same period.
This trend shows a growing gap between income and costs. Despite annual increases in funding, they are not sufficient to cover rising expenses, particularly staffing, SEND provision, and essential services.
As a result, we are no longer able to carry forward savings or build financial reserves. While school funding has increased on paper, our budget in real terms has reduced significantly and it is harder each year to maintain our school offer.
We are inviting our community to support our 2025/26 Donation Strategy, by setting up a regular standing order donation, monthly:
🌟 Enrichment Fund – Suggested £10 per month per pupil
“Bringing learning to life through specialist teaching.”
Music, Art, PE, French, and clubs £10/month from every child could fund a full-time specialist teacher. Without donations, these opportunities may not continue.
In addition, please consider:
🍽️School Meal Donations – £20 per month
“Help us bridge the gap in school meal funding.”
Government funding no longer covers the full cost. Our School is covering the shortfall to ensure no child misses out. Last year’s shortfall was over £35,000 (2024/2025).
